A tourist dies in an accident in Aldosa de Canillo
The driver has been arrested for testing positive for alcohol and toxic substances
An accident claimed the life of a 39-year-old British tourist this morning. The victim was traveling as co-pilot in a vehicle in which three people were traveling. The driver was arrested for giving a positive result in the blood alcohol test with a rate of 1.52 grams and also in the toxic test, according to the security body.
The events took place around two in the morning on the general road 2 in Aldosa de Canillo, at the 12,500 kilometer point, according to the police. The injured vehicle, a Mercedes C300, rented and with French registration, was occupied by three non-residents of the country of English nationality.
The firefighters were the first to receive the warning at 2:05 a.m. via eCall from Germany and quickly moved to the scene, according to the head of the guard. The rescue team performed CPR on the co-pilot, but were unable to do anything to save his life.
The 38-year-old British driver has been taken to hospital, where he is being held by the police, along with the other passenger. The man is arrested as a suspected perpetrator of a crime against independent human life and against collective security.
